Plant Care - Hyacinth

Light: Good light but not full sun.  Keep in the dark to start them into growth.
Water: Water plants in soil moderately with soft water. For bulbs in water, keep the water level just below the bottom of the bulb
Temperature: Bulbs should be rooted in a cool, frost-free place for 8 – 10 weeks.  When bud appears, keep cool for 9 days.  Increase to 60 F as plants grows
Availability: January – March
Color Range:
Lasting Quality: 1 – 2 Weeks.
Key Tips for Success: For winter bloom, bulbs may be potted from early October on.  Plant them ¾ inch deep and scatter bone meal over the soil.  The bulbs need darkness and the soil temperature must be below 55 F When you feel the flower-bud, the pots may be brought into the light.  They may grow to 18” tall.  After blooming, remove yellowed foliage and store the dry bulb in a paper bag.  Plant outside in fall.  A bulb that has been forced cannot be forced again.
